Descriptions
This collection consists of approximately 180 objects of Australiana, predominantly featuring the kangaroo.
The collection was amassed by Terence Lane over a period of 20 years. The items range from the ordinary to the extraordinary, and are testament to designers' enduring interest in the kangaroo. Lane's own fascination for these objects stemmed from the ingenious ways in which he saw the kangaroo incorporated into decorative designs.
It encompasses a wide range of styles produced in Australia and overseas over a period of 150 years and explores both the way in which the kangaroo has been represented and the way it has come to represent Australia.
