Descriptions

A collection of 16mm and 35mm films and Umatic tapes, some of which are rare, as donated by the French Embassy to ACMI for the purposes of educational use and access.

In 1998, Cinemedia took over management of a collection of French films, formally housed at the French Embassy in Canberra. This collection was originally established in the 1960s to promote an appreciation of French cinema. Today, the collection holds 696 titles, a mixture of features, shorts and series - a comprehensive example of French cinema.
