Descriptions

ACMI's Memory and Place Collection comprises the finished work of MAP (later called ACMI in the Regions) projects designed to allow diverse communities across Victoria to represent themselves and capture untapped resources from Victoria's rich media history. The 600 short films are mostly available on DVD and date back to when the project began in 2002. Similar to Digital Storytelling, this is an ongoing program so the collection will continue to expand.

Memory and Place (MAP) is a project designed to allow diverse communities across Victoria to represent themselves and capture untapped resources from Victoria's rich media history. Works generated through this program that relate to specific places in the State of Victoria are catalogued into the collection. They seek to create a topography of memory for Victoria by absorbing the stories of its towns, suburbs and neighbourhoods and sharing them with its people. Shot on DVCAM and transferred to analog formats (DVD), ACMI have logged some 600 short films since the program began in 2002. Regions covered inlcude Metropolitan Melbourne, Central Victoria, South Eastern Victoria, North Western Victoria, North Eastern Victoria, Western Central Highlands and South West Victoria.
