A collection of 28 commissioned landscape photographic artworks by Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky, taken in Western Australia in 2007.
Australian Minescapes consists of a series of 28 photographic landscape artworks by internationally renowned Canadian photographer, Edward Burtynsky. The series includes 27 large scale framed chromogenic photographs and 1 triptych taken at various minesite locations in Kalgoorlie, Dampier and Lake Lefroy in Western Australia. This collection documents the impact of the mining process on the Australian landscape and continues Burtynsky's interest in the global human effect on the natural environment.

Australian Minescapes was commissioned by FotoFreo, with the support of BHP Billiton Iron Ore and the FotoFreo Angels, and exhibited at the Western Australian Museum - Maritime for FotoFreo 2008. The works were subsequently gifted to the Western Australian Museum by Edward Burtynsky. Selected works have been on national tour.
